Jefferson police officers conducted a special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) from Aug. 25 through Sept. 7.
JPD captain Mark Clouse reports that officers investigated four accidents that time, arrested three drivers for operating while intoxicated, made one narcotics arrest, served two arrest warrants and did one canine search.
Officers wrote 20 citations as follows: speed, three; registration violation, one; equipment violations, three; no proof of insurance, four; open container of alcohol, one; and other traffic violations, eight.
Officers issued 53 warnings as follows: seat belt use, 10; speed, 15; stop sign/light violations, three; driving while suspended or revoked, three; dark windows, one; equipment, 12, no proof of insurance, three; and other traffic violations, six.
